![]() Henry Finnis Henry believes that, in many instances, businesses are where they are today because they simply didn't plan to be anywhere else. He also believes that understanding your business workforce and its dynamics then developing options for its future development to take advantage of future market and business growth opportunities are critical elements of change management and strategic business planning. Henry specialises in strategic thinking, workforce systems analysis, and strategic workforce planning. He served as a naval officer for over 36 years, retiring from the Permanent Force in 2004 as a Commander; he remains an active member of the Australian Naval Reserve. He moved to Australia from the United Kingdom in 1980. Henry has lived and worked in England, Scotland, Canada, the United States, Malaysia and Australia. After completing a 36 year career with the Navy in 2004 Henry formed a consultancy business that specialises in strategic workforce planning and business systems analysis. In addition to running his own business Henry joined the Team at Human Performance Specialists from Melbourne, Australia in 2007. Over the last 12 years Henry has specialised in strategic development, executive leadership, strategic workforce planning, modelling and analysis. Henry helps organisations to better understand the structure and dynamics of their workforce and to predict the long term effects of demographic change on future workforce option planning through the development of strategic workforce planning systems, workforce modelling and analysis approaches, strategic leadership, lateral thinking and change leadership. He is experienced in analysing workforce systems and in understanding workforce trends, particularly with regard to their influence on business development. He helps clients to develop workforce options for meeting medium to long term workforce needs through solutions specifically designed to meet strategic business development strategies. In addition to his work with HPS, Henry owns and operates an independent business consultancy specialising in workforce planning. He also currently manages the Royal Australian Navy's nationwide Community Engagement Program, is a director of Linking-Hands Wellness Initiative Inc., a member of the Australian Institute of Company Directors and State President of the Defence Force Welfare Association in his home state of Tasmania. Henry is an experienced inshore and offshore yachtsman as well as a previous player, and now ardent follower, of cricket.
